MAJOR TOM "heading South"
Major Tom is een geocatch hitchhiker. Hij is zijn tocht gestart in de Ruissen-cache nabij Amersfoort in maart 2003.
Zijn uiteindelijke doel is het bereiken van de Zuidpool. Maar het maken van een omweg vind hij niet erg. Om zover mogelijk zuid te komen is het belangrijk dat de cache waarin hij geplaatst wordt zuiderlijker ligt dan de cache waarin hij gevonden is.
In verband met recentelijke ontwikkelingen in de wereld is het echter niet veilig voor Major Tom om lang op 1 plek te blijven, hij moet zo veel mogelijk in beweging blijven.

Major Tom is a geocatch hitchhiker. He started in the Ruissen cache near Amersfoort in the Netherlands in march 2003.
His ultimate goal is reaching the southpole, but making a detour is not a problem. To get as south as possible it is important that he is placed in a cache south of the cache he was found. Due to recent developments in the world however Major Tom can't stay in one place too long. He has to keep moving!
Ik heb Major Tom gevonden, wat nu?
Als je Major Tom in je gevonden hebt:
* Laat het ons weten via major-tom@chello.nl
* Laat hem zo snel mogelijk achter in de eerstvolgende zuiderlijke catch. Indien dit niet binnen redelijke tijd (2 weken?) mogelijk is, is het belangrijker dat Major Tom zich blijft verplaatsen en kun je 'm ook noordelijk verplaatsten.
* Stuur een e-mail naar : major-tom@chello.nl met de volgende informatie;
- De cache waar je hem gevonden hebt, met datum.
- De cache waar je hem in gestopt hebt, wederom met datum.
* Indien je wat wilt bijdragen aan het verhaal van Major Tom, voeg dan een foto toe van Major Tom op een opmerkelijke plek. Dit kan bijvoorbeeld een bekende toeristische plek zijn. Zet er even bij waar de foto genomen is. Binnen korte tijd zal de foto en het bijbehorende verhaal te zien zijn op deze site.

If you have found Major Tom:
* Let us know via major-tom@chello.nl
* Leave him in the next cache that is south of the one you found him in. If you are not able to take Major Tom south within a short time (2 weeks) it is more important to keep him on the move and you can leave him north of where you found him.
* Send an e-mail to: major-tom@chello.nl with the following information;
- The cache you found him in, with date
- The cache you left him in, again with the date
* If you want to contribute to the story of Major Tom sent us a photo of Major Tom at a special place, for instance a well know touristic place. Tell us were the photo was taken, and we will publish the photo on this website.
